As part of the volunteer movement, in cooperation with the Committee on Youth Policy of St. Petersburg and the Donor Fund, twenty-seven employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service took part in blood donation for patients with cancer. Blood was donated at the National Medical Research Center of Oncology. N.N. Petrov of the Ministry of Health of Russia and in the clinical scientific and practical center of specialized types of medical care in St. Petersburg.

The center’s specialists performed medical procedures quickly and professionally – before donating blood, donors underwent a detailed questionnaire and a preliminary examination, including body temperature measurement and basic laboratory tests.

The donor campaign of employees of the regional department will last two days. During this time, more than 50 employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service will donate the blood people need.

According to medical workers of the oncology center, the need for donors in winter increases due to long vacations, seasonal illnesses, as well as winter sessions for students. At present, the city branches need the support of donors.

According to the UFSIN volunteer, donation for him is by no means heroism, but the realization that his blood may now be vital for someone.
