Sergey Karpov, Deputy Head of Detention Facility No. 4 in Menzelinsk, and Tatiana Plokhova, Chairman of the Council of Detention Facility Veterans, congratulated Azgaria Zakirovna Shakirova, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and the region’s penitentiary system, on her birthday.

Azgaria Zakirovna Shakirova was born on February 20, 1924 in the village of Muslyumovo. She worked in the Muslyumovsky village council, and at the beginning of 1943 she asked to go to the front. At first she was sent to Kazan to study – she took anti-aircraft gunner courses, was the best on the course, and in December 1943 she was sent to the city of Sarna to the 12th battalion of the 1873rd anti-aircraft artillery regiment as the head of the rangefinder department with the rank of junior sergeant. Service ended 06/22/1945. In 1964, she went to work in Detention Facility No. 4 as an employee of the Special Records Department, where she worked until her retirement.

She was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, medals “For the Victory over Germany”, “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War”, “Veteran of Labour”, “For Valor and Courage in the Great Patriotic War”, commemorative medals and badges. In 2021, by decision of the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, she was awarded the Mikhail Galkin-Vrasky medal.

Despite her advanced age, Azgaria Zakirovna still shows interest in the state of affairs in the special accounting department of the institution. Employees of the pre-trial detention center regularly visit the veteran and provide assistance.
