June 11, 2021, 2:45 pm Today, in St. Petersburg, in the UEFA EURO 2020 football village, the creation of a unique art installation has begun, which will be digitized and transformed into an NFT trophy. The initiative to create a completely new award for the best goal of the UEFA EURO 2020 Championship was taken by PJSC Gazprom, the official sponsor of the tournament. The famous Russian calligraphuturist Pokras Lampas was invited to implement the idea.

According to the artist’s idea, the creation of the installation will be completed by June 12. The art object represents 432 soccer balls on which the name of the Championship, the Gazprom company, the Football for Friendship international children’s social program of PJSC Gazprom, and its values: friendship, equality, justice, health, peace, are encoded in calligraphic patterns. loyalty, victory, tradition and honor. Calligraphy will not touch only the winner’s ball – until his name is known. The balls form an open art space in which anyone can create unusual content for their audience.

In the future, the art installation will cease to exist as a physical object and will be reborn as a digital work of art in the NFT token format. The digital award and the winner’s ball will be presented to the player who scored the best goal of the UEFA EURO 2020 Championship. Young ambassadors of the Football for Friendship program from all countries of the European Championship will take part in the award ceremony. The hologram of the award will be on display at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Goal of the tournament winner’s award will be the first digital trophy in football history. By combining physical perception and digital reality in a real work of art, she will be the creative embodiment of the spirit of the UEFA EURO 2020: a global event that brings people around the world together around sport.

“This is not the first time Gazprom, as a long-term partner of UEFA, has come up with initiatives that contribute to the development of world football,” said Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director. “Gazprom’s award for the best goal is a unique fact in the history of world sports, and we hope that over the next month we will have a large selection of great goals.”
