Andrey Sarana, first deputy chairman of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, became the director of the institute.

This will help bring medical education and science at the University to the next level, uniting representatives of different branches of medicine and healthcare, their research potential, accumulated experience and knowledge.

The Medical Institute will continue to improve medical educational programs of specialty, master’s, postgraduate and residency, as well as secondary education, based on the highest standards in training future doctors and adhering to the principle of interdisciplinarity of university education.

The university system of continuing medical education will also be developed. Already today, St. Petersburg State University is implementing more than 200 advanced training and retraining programs, the teachers of which are leading experts in their fields, but this list is constantly updated, reflecting the demands of the labor market.

The development of laboratories, simulation classes, and accreditation centers used to provide students with tangible, practical skills and the creation of applied developments by scientists will continue.

The team of the Medical Institute of St. Petersburg State University is confident that, as a successor to popular faculties, the unit will strengthen its place in the higher education system and become the most modern medical higher school, competitive not only in St. Petersburg, but also in Russia and abroad.
