The Polytechnic University has completed the educational module of the international polytechnic accelerator, aimed at developing financial models of innovative projects for their further promotion to foreign markets with the support of the university’s foreign partners.

The participants in the module were teams from several departments of the Polytechnic University: the Higher School of Cyber-Physical Systems Management, the Higher School of Power Engineering, the Higher School of Computer Technologies and Information Systems, the laboratory of the NTI Center “New Manufacturing Technologies” and the Center for Technological Projects.

Attracting investment is one of the most important elements of entering the international market, so the module program was focused on developing financial models of participants’ projects. An expert in this area was the head of the Polytech-invest laboratory of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, entrepreneur and founder of a consulting company Denis Bezruchko. He spoke about his proprietary method for calculating financial models of investment projects, and helped quickly and efficiently create financial models for presentation to potential investors.

Finding an investor and understanding the financial situation of a project is impossible without assessing the competitive environment. Issues of competitive analysis using the methods of patent analytics and scientometrics were discussed by the director of the Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Ismail Kadiev and the deputy director of the Department of Strategic Planning and Development of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Anastasia Chasovnikova.

“Teams at the beginning of the development of innovative projects or the creation of a startup do not always think about how the analysis of scientific publications can benefit them,” explains Anastasia Chasovnikova. — Everyone is accustomed to the fact that scientometrics is dry indicators, choosing journals for publication or searching for reviewers. Meanwhile, the competent use of scientific databases provides the basis for building a commercial strategy for a project, identifying competitors and partners. The international track of the educational program was presented by the Polytechnic’s partners in promoting projects to the Chinese market. Operations Director of the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute Li Lianying made a presentation on trends in the country’s high-tech markets, focusing on sources of financing for innovative projects in Jiangsu Province. Xie Hui, Deputy Director of the PuE Business Incubator Management, spoke about China’s regional policy in the field of supporting innovation.

In addition to experts, the event was attended by successful Russian entrepreneurs who are developing businesses in China; they shared knowledge about the specifics of Chinese entrepreneurship, as well as their experience of the ups and downs of high-tech business.

On the final day of the educational module, program participants presented the results of their work. For example, GSEM graduate student Gong Bowen spoke about a project to create a modern, highly efficient low-power carbon dioxide gas turbine plant. The implementation of such installations will contribute to the implementation of the advanced concept of carbon-free energy.

Master’s student of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Technology, engineer of the laboratory “Modeling of Technological Processes and Design of Power Equipment” Vladislav Zaitsev presented a new approach to ultrasonic welding, which allows you to reliably and quickly join a wide range of composite materials. Other projects touched on equally pressing topics of environmental protection, development of import-substituting software, materials for solar energy, etc.

Based on the results of the program, participants will receive certificates of advanced training and, with the support of international services, will be able to develop projects in collaboration with partners from China.
