Kirill Tambovtsev, a graduate of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, has been working at the State Hermitage for 20 years, but does not forget about his alma mater. During the 2022–2023 year, he organized 12 career guidance excursions for Polytechnic students to the Hermitage Restoration and Storage Center “Staraya Derevnya”. Which, one might say, contributed to strengthening the long-standing partnership between the university and the museum, which were once again confirmed at the end of last year signing a cooperation agreement.

Kirill Tambovtsev is one of the Polytechnic ambassadors, this is the name given to graduates who, having completed their studies, continue to maintain good relations with the university, are proud of the title “Polytechnician” and promote the university brand, representing it in organizations and enterprises where they currently work. Polytechnic ambassadors have more than once become heroes of our special project “Persona”. Memories of student years and stories about professional path have already been shared Kristina Mikhailova, Ulyana Khlopkova, Nikolay Sokolov AndSergei Tikhomirov. Now Kirill Tambovtsev is taking up the baton.

How many times did the interview hero study at the Polytechnic? Why didn’t anyone from his class skip lectures on quantum mechanics? How did a graduate of the Faculty of Radiophysics end up in the Hermitage? About all this and much more read our interview.
