Specialists from the capital’s municipal services complex reconstructed more than 70 kilometers of water supply and sewerage networks in 2023. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“Today, Moscow occupies a leading position among other regions in updating engineering communications. The systematic work being carried out allows us to fully ensure the safety and reliability of network operation. Last year alone, about 40 kilometers of water supply networks and more than 30 kilometers of sewerage networks were reconstructed,” the deputy mayor noted.

Relevant events took place in all administrative districts. Modern technologies and equipment were used in their implementation.

Networks in need of updating are identified during telediagnosis using a robotic complex. After examining the internal condition of the pipeline, a decision is made on the need for repairs, explained Pyotr Biryukov. “More than 90 percent of the work is carried out using trenchless technologies, such as pulling a new pipeline into an existing pipe, restoring the pipeline with polymer hoses, and horizontal directional drilling,” he added.

The use of new technologies allows us to minimize the inconvenience of residents. The work is carried out without turning off the water supply in the houses.

In total, since 2011, about 1.3 thousand kilometers of water supply and 600 kilometers of sewer networks have been reconstructed in the capital.
