In 2023, city services did a lot of work to put the Moscow River in order. Specialists removed 10 floating objects and eight vessels that were there illegally. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Issues Maxim Liksutov.

The river is being actively cleared of sunken and abandoned vessels, as well as illegally installed pontoons. After compensation for the costs of the city budget for the work, the objects are returned to the owners. Owners who abandoned ships and other objects are issued fines.

“Sunken ships, illegal landing stages and pontoons clutter the riverbed and interfere with navigation. In 2023, we completed work on cleaning water bodies in the southern part of the city. We are making river trips safe and comfortable on behalf of Sergei Sobyanin,” said Maxim Liksutov.

A ship is considered abandoned when it has been in a place for a long time in a place not intended for mooring and storage, if it does not have an owner or the owner has abandoned it, and also if it has sunk and the owner is not going to raise it.
