Very soon, on February 19, our university will turn 125 years old. By the decision of Emperor Nicholas II, on the initiative of the Minister of Finance S. Yu. Witte, the Polytechnic Institute was founded in St. Petersburg on February 19, 1899. This date is considered the birthday of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

Preparations for the anniversary at the university have been going on for a long time. In the near future, schoolchildren from about 30 other educational institutions of the Northern capital, as well as St. Petersburg residents, city guests and Muscovites will learn about the achievements of Polytechnic scientists and engineers – exhibitions will open in the Peter and Paul Fortress, at the Moskovsky railway station in St. Petersburg and the Leningradsky railway station in Moscow.

Special Project “Thinking about the future” dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the Polytechnic University, was also created on the website of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

On the eve of the 125th anniversary of the Polytechnic University, it was established insignia “For Merit” More than 100 people have already received it – honored professors and young teachers, heads and employees of departments, students and graduates, as well as partners of the university.

Or you can put it off until later, and first visit the classrooms where representatives of the institutes will be waiting for you.

At 15:00, an organ music concert will begin in the White Hall and will last for an hour. The entrance is free.

From 2 to 4 p.m., a presentation of the book “Polytech. Start”. In addition, the museum has prepared a new exhibition “125 years of the forge of Russian engineering personnel”, where visitors will encounter rare finds.

When you walk along the corridors of the Main building, we recommend paying attention to the updated gallery of portraits of outstanding polytechnics, and on the second floor look at the exhibition “Stages of the Great Path”.

At 13:30 in the meeting room of the Academic Council of SPbPU, together with the Russian Post, a ceremony of canceling anniversary envelopes will be held.
