On the territory of the Sokolniki Car Repair and Construction Plant (SVARZ) in 2021 opened a center for the production of electric buses. In less than three years, about 500 of the latest models of electric buses have been assembled here, more than 350 of them last year. Today SVARZ is the leader in the production of environmentally friendly urban transport in the country. How the plant works on your blog said Sergei Sobyanin.

“The transition to environmentally friendly public transport is one of the most important aspects of the national project “Ecology”. And Moscow is moving in this direction faster than many other megacities in the world. Our city is number one in Europe in terms of the number of electric buses, there are already more than 1,400 of them. They serve almost 120 routes. By the end of 2024, more than 800 more vehicles will be delivered to Moscow, of which more than 600 will be supplied by KamAZ PJSC,” noted the Moscow Mayor.

Over 500 jobs have been created in production; specialists are provided with social guarantees from the Moscow Government. The plant produces the latest models of electric buses: they can go longer without recharging. The salons use adaptive lighting, which changes from cold to warm at 14:00.

Electric buses are equipped with batteries. The salons are decorated in the recognizable style of Moscow transport and equipped with seats, handrails, validators and media screens, and Wi-Fi is connected. Then the interior and electrical parts are checked for leaks in a special sprinkling chamber, simulating the conditions of a tropical rainstorm. The last stage is running-in, after which the electric buses are sent to parks and on city routes.

“In addition, SVARZ is also a leader in the volume of maintenance of urban transport. The enterprise operates a multifunctional service center for major repairs of equipment: from engines to interior flooring. Over the past year, almost three thousand technical inspections were carried out here,” said Sergei Sobyanin.

Another area of work at SVARZ is the production of modern bus stop pavilions. In 2023, the plant produced 1.5 thousand new type of stops. Of these, 1.3 thousand were installed in Moscow, another 200 were transferred for placement near Moscow Central Diameter stations in the Moscow region.

The pavilions are made of stainless steel and aluminum. Their walls are made of transparent triplex, so they do not break into fragments if damaged. The roof area has been increased, lighting has been installed, and video surveillance has been installed. The stops are decorated in the same style of Moscow transport.

“We can be proud that modern environmentally friendly equipment for working on city streets is produced and serviced in Moscow,” summed up Sergei Sobyanin.
