Last year, specialists from the municipal services complex equipped more than 200 heating points with new smart leak detection technology. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“Currently, work is underway to equip heating points with smart leak detection technology, which allows us to identify possible unreliable areas and promptly repair them, preventing emergency situations in heating networks and hot water supply networks. Last year, PJSC Moscow United Energy Company equipped more than 200 heating points with a new system, so today almost seven thousand have smart technology,” noted Petr Biryukov.

Algorithms for identifying signs of hidden leaks in heating distribution networks based on data analysis from the automated “Dispatching” system were developed in 2020.

Zammara added that the algorithms use information from about 10 different sensors from each heating point. The program analyzes in real time minor changes in the most important parameters during the night hours of equipment operation, when hot water consumption is minimal. Thanks to this, it is possible to determine heat losses as accurately as possible and identify a potentially unreliable area to which a repair team is immediately sent.

The head of the municipal services complex emphasized that the system makes it possible to detect even minor technological violations, which at the initial stage may not have external signs. This is, for example, a leakage of coolant or a deterioration in the consumer’s parameters. Last year alone, about one thousand potential technological violations were detected and prevented using the system.
