Alexander Zykov has developed a project called Automarket. The smart carts he invented for supermarkets use machine vision to scan the goods a customer puts into them and automatically fill the shopping cart in a mobile app.

“‘Automarket’ is in the business of retail innovation. We are bringing artificial intelligence and robotics into conventional grocery stores and creating the retail of the future. We have several technological developments: smart carts with autopilot, smart carts with AI product scanner, smart baskets and a case for order pickers with in-store navigation. Our projects help retail chains to increase the throughput of the checkout area, increase the average customer’s check, reduce order picking time and improve the quality of picking.

We are currently running several pilot projects in retail chains in Russia, but we will expand production, and in the near future we have the opening of the first store with smart carts.

The idea for the startup was born two years ago, when I spent a lot of time waiting in lines at the store, after which I started to think of ways to improve the shopping experience.

It took about a year to get through Sber’s gas pedal. To start training in it, you only had to apply and then do a lot of tasks and work with a mentor. Getting into the top 10 is the result of a lot of hard work, so I would say it was logical and natural.

Nikita Nekhaenko presented the project “ParkAR” – a mobile application with augmented reality, thanks to which it is possible to create 3D navigation, quests and games for park visitors and view activity analytics.

“This story started in 8th grade. I liked programming, I liked playing games, and I thought, “Why don’t I combine the two?” That’s how I became a game developer. At first I did it alone, then I realized I could scale and found a team. We went to game development Olympiads, but later I realized that you need money here, and money doesn’t really make money in game development, so I decided to do something else. I became interested in augmented reality technology, which is now being used extensively abroad and is practically not used in Russia. So I thought, “Why not make an app based on this technology?”

So I started to develop an augmented reality application for my city, Simferopol: what there is to see in it, what sights there are. It turned out to be very interesting, and I decided to develop in this direction. I found a team – a designer, a lawyer, a manager, with whom we started a new project. At first it was hard, but then we changed our approach, started to participate in different competitions and got support. We started to win, it was very motivating, we wanted to achieve greater success, and that’s how we got into Sber’s gas pedal.

Our ParkAR app is designed for visitors to nature and recreational parks. With its help people can diversify their leisure time: learn about the nearest events in the park, see local attractions in VR-reality, play virtual quests. Parks administration will have the opportunity to improve interaction with visitors, to view statistics on the use of the application. And all this is thanks to augmented reality technology, which gamifies the process and increases the number of app downloads”.
