The celebration of the fifth anniversary of the international club PolyUnion took place in a solemn and friendly atmosphere. Five years is a significant period during which hundreds of Russian and foreign children were able to make friends, thanks to the Polytechnic and Interclub. This is not only an international student space, but also the people who fill it with life and organize its work.

Rector of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoy congratulated the students: With an excellent assessment! Five points! This is an excellent assessment both over the years and in terms of the quality of Interclub’s work. I remember when we opened this club. Many who were there then have already completed their studies, and I am glad to see you again at this holiday. Polytechnic is the first international among technical universities: we have more than five thousand foreign students. We are expanding the range of training, including within the framework of the Russian-African Network University, of which we are the coordinator. Now the Unified Center for Registration of Foreign Citizens is preparing to open – a multifunctional cluster on campus. He will resolve all issues of migration and visa registration, registration, registration of accommodation in university dormitories and medical insurance. This year is special for Polytechnic University, because it is an anniversary year. And very soon, on January 19, the 125th anniversary will be celebrated, where the best foreign students are invited.

From the very first day of the Interclub’s work, tutors took an active part in it. At the anniversary, SPbPU Rector Andrei Rudskoy awarded the head of TutorForces Ksenia Gladina and her team. This year, a new composition of the Polytechnic Community Council began its work. Over the past 5 years, Interclub has developed its own active population of foreign students. The rector also awarded the head of PolyUnion, Alexandra Le Gall, and her team.

Polytechnic institutes began to create their own associations of foreign students. This is how the Humanitarian Institute, represented by Elizaveta Lupandina and her team, was celebrated at the ceremony.

Some Interclub activists have already graduated from the Polytechnic, but do not break ties with it. Some left for their homeland, others stayed in Russia and found work at their alma mater. The rector of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University presented an honorary badge to a graduate of the Humanitarian Institute, a graduate student of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Technology, Al Haj Bara Bibars from Syria. Bibars found his calling in photography. And for several years now he has been working in the SPbPU public relations department as a photographer.

A graduate of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, Itri Hanaa from Morocco, was also awarded a badge of honor: Five years ago I chose Polytechnic, and thanks to this, all my dreams came true. Thanks to Interclub, because when I arrived in Russia, I didn’t speak Russian at all. Here I met a lot of good guys. Here I started a family – this is what every foreign student needs. Thank you Polytech. Thanks Interclub.

Hanaa went all the way as a foreign student: from the preparatory faculty to graduate school and teaching at the department, organized her own business in Russia and became the founder of her own brand of products from Morocco.

Li Junying read Fyodor Tyutchev’s poem “Russia cannot be understood with the mind…”. Indonesian group “SecretScarlet” performed at the anniversary, playing a drum kit donated by the university. At the end of the holiday, foreign students of the Polytechnic University presented a memorable gift to Andrei Rudsky, including a painting painted by a student from Indonesia, Shakur Muhammad Abid A.
