In 2023, biological treatment facilities (BWTP) of the Ufa oil refinery group (part of the Rosneft oil refining complex) processed 22.11 million m3 of industrial wastewater. Over the entire period of operation, since the launch of the facility in 2018, more than 134 million m3 of wastewater have been treated.

The biological treatment plants serve not only the Bashneft refineries, but also treat wastewater from 66 enterprises in the northern industrial zone of Ufa and storm drains.

Rational use of water resources and their replenishment is one of the priorities of Rosneft in the field of environmental protection. The biological treatment plants of the Ufa oil refining complex provide the highest level of purification of industrial, storm and domestic wastewater, which increases the volume of reused water in technological processes by 2.5 times. Thanks to membrane reactor technology, all impurities and microorganisms are removed from wastewater. As a result, the water quality meets the standards for fishery reservoirs.

Today, water intake for production needs from the Belaya River, the main water artery of the Republic of Bashkortostan, has been reduced by more than 50%. In the future, biological treatment facilities will completely switch to a closed cycle of wastewater treatment and stop taking river water.

Bashneft enterprises are actively implementing projects to restore natural resources and protect ecosystems and biodiversity. The company organizes activities for the conservation and restoration of aquatic biological resources. In 2023, more than 26 thousand fish fry were released into the rivers, including valuable and Red Book species. In total, over the past five years, the enterprise has released more than 5 million juveniles into the water bodies of Bashkiria and neighboring regions.

In 2023, Bashneft employees planted 515 thousand tree seedlings, of which 30 thousand were in the Asly-Kul natural park in the Davlekanovsky district to save Lake Aslikul from shallowing. In just 5 years, Bashneft planted more than 4.5 million seedlings on an area of more than 1.3 thousand hectares in the regions where the company operates.

JSOC Bashneft is one of the oldest enterprises in the country’s oil and gas industry, carrying out a full production cycle – oil and gas production, their processing and production of petroleum products and petrochemical products. Bashneft’s key production assets are located in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Bashneft also develops fields in the Khanty-Mansiysk and Nenets Autonomous Districts, the Orenburg Region, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Perm Territory.
