On March 6, 2024, a regular meeting of the working group of the Eurasian Network University was held in a mixed format at the site of the State University of Management.

The moderator of the meeting was the head of the ESU Secretariat, Vice-Rector of the State University of Management Dmitry Bryukhanov. The work was attended by Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Elena Gorozhankina, Deputy Director of the Department of Macroeconomic Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission Kanybek Azhekbarov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Relations of the Kyrgyz Economic University. M. Ryskulbekova Tamara Dzholdosheva, Advisor to the Rector for International Cooperation, Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhova Tatyana Balabanova, as well as representatives of universities participating in the ESU, including the University of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the EurAsEC, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Higher School of Economics, the Moscow State Technological University “Stankin”, the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade, the Moscow Energy Institute, the Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky, Ural State Economic University, Voronezh State Agrarian University, Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafin, Pridnestrovian State University.

The first speaker was the Deputy Vice-Rector of the National Research Nizhny Novgorod State University. N.I. Lobachevsky Konstantin Kemaev. During the report, the interim results of the International Student Olympiad of the Eurasian Network University were presented. Currently, the first stage of the ESU Olympiad – the portfolio competition – has been completed. Of the 1,315 registered participants, 317 portfolios were selected. The leading positions among the participating countries in the Olympics are occupied by Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The second stage, the interview, will take place from March 11 to 15. As noted earlier, the announcement of the results of the Olympiad and the issuance of electronic certificates for prize winners are scheduled for March 20, 2024.

Elena Gorozhankina, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, noted that when selecting prize-winners and winners of the Olympiad for admission to master’s programs, universities that are members of the ESU consortium are given priority.

Further, Igor Polyachenko spoke about the negotiations that are ongoing with universities applying for membership in the ESU. It was decided to request presentation materials from candidates for joining the consortium and send candidates selection criteria for entry, among which the key is the presence of a project that the university is ready to implement within the framework of the ESU activities. Invitations were sent to a number of universities in Kyrgyzstan to join the consortium. From March 11 to 15, the ESU Secretariat will take part in a number of events as part of the educational exhibition in Bishkek and Osh and will hold additional negotiations on the accession of universities in Kyrgyzstan to the consortium.

Irina Kartseva, head of the international project coordination group of the International Cooperation Department of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, briefly reported on the planned launch of a survey of ESU universities to identify the needs for creating a multilateral network educational program. Based on the results of the survey, a meeting of the working group is planned at the end of March.

Victoria Khomich, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Urban and Regional Development of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, brought up for discussion an initiative that involves the integration of ESU universities with Chinese partner universities, in particular in the field of urban and regional development. This integration will make it possible to become an entry point for the development of cooperation in the field of urbanism, conducting joint integration activities (research and educational projects, participation in competitions for grants for joint research, etc.) with the involvement of specialized faculties of the consortium universities.

At the end of the meeting, those present discussed the preliminary program for the upcoming round table, which will take place on March 18 at the site of the State University of Management. On the eve of International Women’s Day, the head of the ESU Secretariat congratulated all representatives of the universities participating in the consortium on the holiday and wished them new successes and achievements.
