Construction site of the first stage objects world-class campus of NSU, which is being built within national project “Science and Universities” By decision of the President of the Russian Federation, the Vice-Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Irina Manuilova and the Minister of Science and Innovation Policy of the Novosibirsk Region Vadim Vasiliev visited. The layout of the academic building will allow for the placement of laboratories, classrooms and workshops in biology, physics and chemistry equipped with heavy-duty ventilation. In a modern building, conditions will be created for 625 gifted schoolchildren (currently 550 schoolchildren are studying at the NSU Scientific and Research Center), to modernize the educational process and integrate it into project and scientific activities.

The construction of the second stage of facilities will increase the teaching space by 25%, in particular, the building of continuous classrooms, designed for 1,700 students, will create a modern infrastructure not only for educational, but also for research activities.

“Today we have seen that the construction of the campus is even slightly ahead of schedule, which confirms the success of the project in the public-private partnership format. The world-class university campus of NSU will become a center of attraction for talented young people interested in the development of domestic science. Conditions will be created here for students to live, study and work. This vast territory with innovative infrastructure will fit perfectly into the urban landscape and will become a platform for the development of knowledge-intensive businesses and attracting investments in science,” said Vadim Vasiliev, Minister of Science and Innovation Policy of the Novosibirsk Region.

The development of technological student entrepreneurship on the basis of the world-class campus of NSU will increase the share of resident companies of the Scientific and Technological Park of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok and will ensure the creation and development of the scientific, innovative, social, engineering and transport infrastructure of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok, in addition, the implementation of the project will attract school graduates from other regions and increase the number of promising highly qualified researchers, develop our own research agenda in priority areas of fundamental and applied research.

Thus, the emergence of a new campus and modern research infrastructure will help improve the status of the Academic Town as an educational and scientific center of federal significance,” emphasized NSU Rector Mikhail Fedoruk.

Among the key programs that will be implemented on the basis of the new campus are artificial intelligence and big data processing, biotechnology, synchrotron-neutron research, photonics and sensors, digital medicine, as well as new functional materials and space instrumentation.

An important component of the first stage of the project is the educational building and leisure center of the NSU Scientific Research Center. Physics and mathematics school students will be able to start classes in the new buildings on September 1, 2024.

“Moving to new buildings will allow us to combine the most advanced infrastructure solutions and long-standing teaching traditions to create a unique educational environment that has no analogues in Russia. The program to create a network of world-class campuses is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science together with regions and business on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
