In April, 17 regions of the country received an additional 200 million rubles for the implementation of tourism projects, including the Chukotka and Nenets districts, Yakutia and the Magadan region. This will allow territories with a small tourist flow to support more initiatives, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said at a government meeting.

The funds will be allocated as part of a single subsidy provided for by the national project “tourism and hospitality industry,” curated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. In 2024, such a subsidy will be sent to the regions for the first time. The new mechanism allows the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to independently set priorities, determine and support priority areas for a specific territory.

Initially, 6.2 billion rubles were allocated for such a support measure; based on the results of a competitive selection, 85 regions will receive it; the funds are planned to be released in April. At the same time, taking into account the criteria – the available number of rooms, the projected increase in tourist trips, the presence of national tourist routes – regions with a small number of tourist trips could count on a small amount of funds.

“For additional support for such regions, the subsidy amount was determined to be at least 30 million per region, the President supported it. By decision of the Government, another 200 million rubles were allocated through the redistribution of funds within the national project. And they increased the amount of support for 17 regions. Including the Arctic and the Far East,” said Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.

Additional funds, for example, will be received by the Komi Republic, Yakutia, Magadan Region, Jewish Autonomous Region, Nenets and Chukotka Autonomous Okrugs. In Yakutia, thanks to this support, grants will be issued for the creation of electronic guides to tourist routes, mobile applications and audio guides will be created. It is also planned to develop a tourist center in Yakutsk and hold a winter festival. In the Magadan region they will increase support for the creation of campsites.

A single subsidy can be used for the development of beaches and national tourist routes, the purchase of tourist equipment and equipment, the creation of campsites and car campsites, the construction of non-permanent mooring facilities, the holding of festivals and the design of a tourist code for city centers.

For reference: In the country as a whole, the leading regions in terms of the volume of funds allocated under a single subsidy were the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, the Moscow, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

In particular, the tourist centers of Arzamas and Vyksa will be equipped in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and the Golden Khokhloma festival and the Vyksa festival will be held. In the Moscow and Sverdlovsk regions, money will be used to develop tourism infrastructure.

Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tyumen Region and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug did not participate in the selection due to high budgetary support.
