Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree appointing Denis Tsypkin as general director of the Russian National Library for a period of five years.

Denis Tsypkin was born in 1970. Graduated from Irkutsk State University.

Since 1991 he has been working at the Russian National Library. Until now, he held the position of director for particularly important funds of the institution. He is also a member of the St. Petersburg branch of the Archaeographic Commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences and co-chairman of the Petrine (National) Society of Paper Historians.

The Russian National Library was founded in 1795 by Catherine II as the first public library in Russia. Now it is one of the five largest libraries in the world, is the second in Russia in terms of the volume of library collections and has the status of a particularly valuable object of cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia.
