The exhibition featured multimedia exhibitions with drones, consoles, stands with information about the history of the development of computer sports and the first international multi-sport tournament “Games of the Future”. Guests were also presented with a special robotics zone, including domestic developments.

“It is important that our sport develops, new forms and competitive practices are found. And the success that Russia demonstrated by holding the first multi-sport tournament “Future Games” on behalf of President Vladimir Putin is just a worthy confirmation of this trend. Let’s not forget that the new heroes who appeared during the Games became role models, and now truly millions of talented guys will come to follow them. Therefore, our joint responsibility is to test new formats, create interesting combinations of sports, and expand the audience in all regions of our country,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

He also added that the importance of high-tech sports is increasing in the current political situation. Many sports and disciplines, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Government, are indeed of a military nature. For example, tank biathlon, drone racing, robot battles.

As Alexander Zhukov noted, physical sports are the future. Many countries, already during the first Games, expressed a desire to host such competitions in the future, and this suggests that high-tech sports have great prospects.

“The technological disciplines presented at the exhibition are born of the realities in which our world lives today. Sport has always been a reflection of the essence of time, and the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation actively supports the activities of federations that develop computer sports, the physical movement, sports programming, and drone racing. All of them reflect the interests of young people, but are also practically significant in our lives. The youth of Russia are intellectually educated, our task is to ensure that the harmonious physical and intellectual development of the individual is preserved,” said Oleg Matytsin.

“Technology is rapidly changing our lives, penetrating into all areas. Sports are no exception. Technological sports are firmly established along with classical ones, and it is no longer possible to deny this. Recently, more than 1,000 major eSports tournaments have been held in Russia, in which more than half a million athletes took part. In February 2023, the first sports programming championship in the history of not only Russia, but also the world was held. Drone racing is also developing. And the recent international multi-sport tournament “Future Games” proved that Russia plays a leading role in the international sports arena, despite all Western sanctions. In the State Duma, we adopted a law that cemented Russia’s role as the founder of a new competition format: physical sports. And at least nine states have already wanted to follow our path and hold similar competitions. We can already say that we are at a historical moment and are laying the foundation for future generations. High-tech sports will play an important role in the development of the sports industry. And Russia, as one of the leading countries in the world, cannot remain aloof from the new trend,” commented Dmitry Svishchev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports.

As part of the grand opening, the contribution of the multi-sport tournament “Games of the Future” to both the international sports movement and e-sports was repeatedly noted. The tournament took place from February 21 to March 3. More than 2 thousand people from 116 countries aged 12–62 years took part in it. The winners and prize-winners of the competition were 236 athletes from Russia, China, India, Belarus, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Spain, Uruguay, the Philippines, Argentina, Ecuador, and Colombia. In total, more than 800 hours of live broadcasts took place. The total number of views is 3.2 billion. Even before the end of the Games, nine states announced their desire to hold the same tournament in their country.

Let us remind you that Russia became the first country in the world to officially recognize e-sports. The Russian Computer Sports Federation has been developing this area for 24 years. Recently, the organization has held more than 1,000 major tournaments, in which more than half a million athletes took part. In addition, Russia is the first state to recognize sports programming as a sport.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was also attended by the head of the international multi-sport tournament “Games of the Future” Igor Stolyarov, the President of the Russian Computer Sports Federation Dmitry Smith, the President of the Russian Drone Racing Federation Ilya Galaev, and the Executive Director of the Sports Programming Federation Andrey Arbuzov.

A meeting was also held at the State Duma with members of the Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports. Dmitry Chernyshenko, on behalf of the Government and on his own behalf, thanked the committee for the work carried out on legislative support for the development of sports in Russia. He noted that over the past three years, with the participation of deputies, a number of key legislative initiatives have been adopted that have determined the prospects for the development of sports. First of all, this is the law on the development of sports in new regions, adopted in June last year. A bill dedicated to early development centers is also being prepared for consideration, the development of which is being carried out in pursuance of the President’s instructions.
