Specialists of the municipal services complex will update about 400 ventilation shafts of communication collectors. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“The modernization of ventilation shafts has been carried out in the capital since 2011, when large-scale programs for the improvement of public spaces were launched. The main task was to organically fit these structures into the urban landscape, so the old “houses” were replaced by modern, modernized grids. This year we will update 385 such facilities,” said Pyotr Biryukov.

Ventilation shafts are the ground parts of communication collectors that provide air flow into them. They are necessary for the smooth functioning of underground engineering structures.

During the work, specialists will dismantle the old ventilation shaft heads, install metal gratings in their place, and also line the structures with granite. It is resistant to fires, environmentally friendly, safe for the environment and easy to process.

The capital’s collection system has no analogues in the world in terms of the length and ramification of the network, and the compactness of the communications laid inside. The total length of the collectors is more than 815 kilometers, and the number of ventilation shafts exceeds 13 thousand.
