Elena Odoevskaya

Vice-Rector of the National Research University Higher School of Economics

– The strategic projects of the Priority-2030 program of the National Research University Higher School of Economics are aimed at solving interdisciplinary research problems, creating and developing world-class scientific schools. Our competition was developed taking into account the three-year experience in implementing strategic projects and is designed to provide young researchers with an opportunity to try their hand at solving the university’s priority research tasks. We will closely follow the successes of our colleagues and help them to promote their results both within Vyshka and outside the university.

The 2024 competition differs from previous years’ initiatives by having a single framework: participants can apply for research support by topics of any of Vysshka’s five strategic projects:

“Human success and autonomy in a changing world”;
“Social policy of sustainable development and inclusive economic growth”;
“National Center for Scientific-Technological and Socio-Economic Forecasting”;
“AI technologies for human beings”;
“Resilient Brain: neurocognitive technologies for human adaptation, learning, development and rehabilitation in a changing environment”.

Applications that address the following criteria will be accepted for consideration:

at least 75% of researchers, including the project leader, are undergraduate, graduate students or employees of Vyshka under the age of 35;
the project will be implemented from May 1 to November 15, 2024;
the project contributes to the solution of tasks and achievement of expected results of one of the strategic projects of the National Research University Higher School of Economics;
at least 1 article is planned to be published as a result of the project or at least 1 RIA (result of intellectual activity) is planned to be registered.

Advantage will be given to initiatives aimed at a commercialized applied result, as well as those involving external partners.

There are a number of benefits to successfully participating in the competition:

financial support for research up to 1 million rubles;
Opportunity to collaborate with leading Vysshka researchers and industrial partners, as well as further integration into Vysshka’s strategic projects;
opportunity to participate in the development of innovative technologies, digital solutions and tools aimed at solving the most urgent and socially important problems;
the possibility of further commercialization of research results with the support of the Center for Commercialization of Developments and Technology Transfer of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
