At the beginning of April, the exhibition “ArtMedia Laboratory” was held in the HSE building on Pokrovsky Boulevard

“ArtMedia Laboratory

On the opening day, visitors could not only view the exhibition, but also communicate with the authors personally and ask any questions. Also at the exhibition there was a dance performance about the mechanisms of social decision-making.

In addition to the installation, students also had the opportunity to listen to an artist talk with the authors of the presented projects – the participants spoke in more detail about their works, the history of their creation and the difficulties they encountered in the creative process.

“I really enjoyed working with artists, with creative people. In our scientific activities, we lack such events, where it is not just an ordinary scientific conference, where people dryly present their data. Here it’s a whole installation, it’s nice to have a hand in something on a larger scale, and, of course, I would like to continue collaborating,” said Victoria Besprozvannykh, a 1st-year master’s student in the OP “Chemistry of molecular systems and materials” National Research University Higher School of Economics.

Speaking about her project at the exhibition, she noted that it helps people become interested in science. “It seems to me that the popularization of science should not immediately provide the viewer with dry data, because it is not always exciting,” Victoria explained. “And through such an installation it is possible to attract the attention of the viewer, who in the future will decide to study this research in more depth and learn more new things for himself.”

Participant of the exhibition Anastasia Totskaya, 3rd year student of the OP “Communication Design” HSE National Research University is also confident in the importance of its project. “First of all, it is needed to see how the connection between an artist and a scientist works, it can really be strong in terms of concept and visuals, because these are things that mutually help each other. And secondly, these are posters about themselves,” commented Anastasia.
