SPbGASU has been collaborating with the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Milan (POLIMI) for many years. This university ranks first in the rankings of architectural universities in Italy. The collaboration is carried out within the framework of the master’s program “Connected Class”. From the Italian side, the architectural studio of Professor Maurizio Meriggi (25 students) is participating in the program, and from St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the architectural studio of Fyodor Perov (11 students). At the same time, our university is represented by fourth-year students whose level of competencies fully meets the requirements of the master’s degree program at the Politecnico di Milano. The program is dedicated to the development of a project for the development of the Ligurian coast in the Marina di Pisa area and includes practical classes and lecture courses conducted by teachers from ROLIMI and SPbGASU.

The work consists of several stages. The first stage is an analysis of experience in the design and development of resort areas. At the second stage, projects for the development of the coast and individual recreational facilities are being carried out.

As a first stage, at the request of the Italian side, students of St. Petersburg State University of Civil Engineering analyzed the experience of designing recreational public buildings in the USSR and Russia, which is of great interest to the entire international group of students and teachers. Students carried out an analysis at the urban planning level, made drawings of the main projections of the buildings under study, and identified structural systems.

According to the terms of the program, abstracts were prepared describing creative portraits of Soviet architects, and programs of the USSR and Russia for the development of resort areas were described. Associate Professor of the Department of Architectural Design Fyodor Perov gave a course of lectures to the program participants on the architecture of resort complexes of the Soviet period and modern Russia.

The first stage of the work was presented remotely with a demonstration of completed materials, drawings and models. The presentation of our students was recognized as the best and was accompanied by applause.

Based on the completed pre-project analysis, in the next stages, until the end of May of this year, concepts for the development and recreational facilities of Marina di Pisa will be developed.
