From April 21 to 29, students of Novosibirsk State University, as well as guests and residents of Akademgorodok will be able to immerse themselves in the culture and get acquainted with the traditions of foreign countries – the annual youth student forum “Interweek” will be held at the university’s sites. Every day there will be parties, master classes, exhibitions, meetings with interesting people, and concerts of student creative associations. At InterArbat, NSU foreign students will talk about the culture of their native countries.

— 2024 can be considered a special year for the Interweek, because our events were preceded by the World Youth Festival in Sochi, the number of participants of which included students and staff of Novosibirsk State University. The guys returned with unforgettable impressions from the scale of the events and communication with the same active and energetic young people from other countries. We can say that this spring is imbued with the spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and unity, embodied in cultural exchanges and international communication. And we are very glad that the university maintains this mood in the hearts of NSU students and residents of Akademgorodok year after year,” said Elena Krasilova, head of the NSU youth policy and educational work department.

Anyone can become a participant or guest of the Interweek: there are no age restrictions, admission is free (registration is possible for some events). The full program of events will be published in official event community on VKontakte.

The youth student forum “Interweek” is the oldest tradition of NSU, which dates back to the first May Day. NSU students held it in the spring of 1966 as a symbol of international solidarity with posters “Windows of GROWTH”, with songs around the fire in which an effigy of imperialism was burned.

Since 1972, the Week of International Friendship began to be held, subsequently the Week of International Solidarity (Interweek), which included a political song festival, a political poster competition, a political film festival, meetings of students with guests from the union republics and other countries, evenings of international friendship, etc. 1991 Interweek was held under the auspices of the NSU Student Council.

At each historical stage, the Interweek events were filled with relevant meanings in tune with the era. The modern Interweek is a significant sociocultural event for the youth of Novosibirsk State University, Akademgorodok, and universities. Its goal is to promote respect, tolerance and mutual understanding among young people of different beliefs, cultures and religions. The Interweek includes a series of cultural, educational and sporting events. Students are introduced to the cultural characteristics of different countries and peoples by such venues as the sports festival “InterGames”, concerts “InterSong” and “Around the World”, “International Arbat”, etc. Participants and organizers of the sites are not only student clubs, language centers of the Humanitarian Institute , but also foreign students studying at NSU. This allows events to be held with maximum authenticity and the necessary national flavor.
