Source: Novosibirsk State University – Novosibirsk State University – Students Faculty of Information Technologies of NSUEkaterina Belousova and Sergey Vladimirov developed a game for schoolchildren as part of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry,” created by decision of the President of the Russian Federation. This program makes travel more accessible for children.

In 2023, the Altai Territory became one of the pilot regions of Russia where the service “Creating conditions to provide certain categories of citizens with the opportunity to travel in order to develop the tourism potential of the Russian Federation” was tested. As part of this program, 1,000 schoolchildren in grades 5-9 from 14 districts and 5 cities of the Altai Territory traveled around the region. Cultural and educational tours “Along the Chuysky Tract” and “Masters of the Altai Land” were developed for them.

To make the tours more exciting, the students came up with a special game in the form of a chat bot for the Telegram messenger, the main characters of which were Altai deer.

— During my studies at the Faculty of Information Technologies, I often cover tourism topics in my projects. Knowing about my passion for tourism, the Altai tour operators who ran this excursion program approached me with a request to develop a chatbot to make the trip more interesting for schoolchildren.

During the journey, the children had to answer questions, take photographs, complete tasks and move on to the next level. And, of course, we received prizes for it!

As a result, 1000 schoolchildren from the Altai region traveled with our game in 2023. In addition, schoolchildren and parents liked excursions with such interactive activities so much that the free travel program will continue in 2024. We will be happy to continue working together with tour operators. We are glad that our project was highly appreciated among the audience,” said Ekaterina Belousova, a 4th year student at FIT NSU.
