On April 14, the third stage of the St. Petersburg all-around racing championship “Polydrive” took place on the territory of the Polytechnic University. 63 participants competed for the title of best driver, including nine polytechnicians. Based on the results of the competition, the KSTT “Extreme” SPbPU team won gold medals.

“Polydrive” included a traditional sprint, in which the main danger was treacherous curbs. In addition, the athletes were treated to an interesting “Non-Standard” track, combining classic all-around racing figures with a narrow configuration. At this stage, there was no equal to the polytechnician Alexander Shulyaev, who once again won a landslide victory. And the representative of “Extreme” Maxim Konchev demonstrated such a spectacular performance that he received a standing ovation from the audience and judges. Second place went to Viktor Sorokin. The performances of these athletes, as well as ISPO students Ilya Shitik and Pavel Alekseev, led the Polytech team to a well-deserved gold.

Awards were given in the “Championship”, “Superiority”, “Student” and “Polytech” competitions. For the second year in a row, a feature of the stage at the Polytechnic University was the “Figital” competition, organized jointly with the “Berloga” phygital center. Participants competed both on a real track and behind the wheel of a car simulator in the game Assetto Corsa. The winner was Alexander Shulyaev.

“Polydrive is the most interesting and difficult stage of the entire multi-event championship, which attracts experienced participants from the most honorable motorsport series. We saw everything: the strongest drivers, tight competition, vigilant refereeing and clear timing. It was interesting to combine sim racing with real driving. This approach helps pilots who do not have the opportunity to train in a real car. Also, such a format makes it possible to adapt to new conditions,” shared participant Yegor Sedykh.
