Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov held a meeting with representatives of the department abroad and economic advisers at embassies. At the meeting, issues of strengthening Russian cooperation with friendly countries, as well as details of holding international economic exhibitions and forums in 2024, were discussed.

Since the last meeting in December 2023, the foreign apparatus of the ministry has increased: a new Permanent Representative of Russia to the WTO was appointed, representatives in four new countries – Abkhazia, Vietnam, Pakistan and Mongolia, the existing apparatus of foreign representatives in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Syria, Uzbekistan, as well as in Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva. Newly appointed employees took part in the meeting online.

“The Ministry of Economic Development and its representatives abroad have a year full of international events ahead,” noted Maxim Reshetnikov. “We continue to actively work with our foreign partners, paying special attention to systemic issues of trade and economic cooperation, as well as climate and tourism issues.”

Employees of the relevant departments of the ministry, together with colleagues from China, Brazil, Uzbekistan and Tanzania, reported on the current agenda of multilateral cooperation, as well as on Russia’s interaction with China, the countries of Central Asia, Latin America and Africa.

Deputy Minister Dmitry Volvach spoke about the capabilities of the state information system of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development “Economy” for foreign employees in terms of foreign economic relations of the regions. Representative of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development as part of the Russian Trade Mission in Uzbekistan Ildus Khalitov speaks about the launch of the Expert Center for Strategic Initiatives in Uzbekistan, as well as the preparation of the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. CENTRAL ASIA” and the III Tashkent International Investment Forum.

Director of the Department for the Development of Bilateral Cooperation Pavel Kalmychek, together with the Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Tanzania, Georgy Glavatskikh, reported on upcoming areas of work in the context of the appointment of Maxim Reshetnikov as Chairman of the Russian part of the Russian-Tanzanian Intergovernmental Commission, as well as together with the representative of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development as part of the Russian Trade Mission in China, Elena Serdyukova – on the preparation of the business program of the Russian-Chinese EXPO and the activities of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission to prepare regular meetings of heads of government.

Deputy Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects Sofya Litvinova, together with the economic attache at the Russian Trade Mission in Brazil Igor Deynov, spoke about the preparation of the multilateral events COP29 and G20.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov expressed gratitude to the trade adviser of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the WTO Oleg Savelyev and the trade attaché of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the WTO Alexander Mikryukov for the large-scale work on developing the agenda and agreeing on the final documents of the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, which took place in Abu -Dabi (UAE) from February 26 to March 1, 2024.
