Construction of a bridge across the Ob River in the Surgut region of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra

In the Surgut region of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, within the framework of the national project “Safe Quality Roads”, a large bridge crossing project with a total length of more than 45 km is being implemented, including a bridge across the Ob River with a length of about 1.7 km. This facility is being built ahead of schedule. Currently, all 16 supports of the structure are ready, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“The second bridge crossing over the Ob River in the Surgut region will become the largest transport infrastructure facility for the Autonomous Okrug. Its importance cannot be overestimated both for the city and for the entire region and Russia as a whole. The facility, which we are constructing as part of the national project “Safe Quality Roads,” is of strategic importance for ensuring transport links between the world’s largest hydrocarbon production areas and regions of Russia and other countries. The new crossing will allow for the redistribution of traffic flows and the creation of an alternative route for the round-the-clock passage of heavy vehicles. In addition, it will take on the main transport load of two federal transport corridors: Tyumen – Tobolsk – Surgut – Novy Urengoy – Nadym – Salekhard and Perm – Ivdel – Khanty-Mansiysk – Surgut – Nizhnevartovsk – Tomsk, which are significant links in the Arctic – Asia directions and the Northern Latitudinal Corridor. Work at the site is carried out around the clock. Currently, all 16 bridge supports are ready,” said Marat Khusnullin.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that in total, as part of the project, road workers will build sections of the highway with a total length of more than 40 km, 8 artificial structures with a total length of about 2.3 km, including a bridge across the Ob River with a length of 1.7 km, three overpasses and four small bridges with a total length about 322 m across the Sukhoi Agan, Kazennaya and Poloy rivers.

According to the Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra Natalya Komarova, the overall construction readiness of the facility is about 40%. “The plans for the current year are to complete the roadbed of the highway, all work on small bridge structures, and install 30% of the asphalt concrete pavement. As the customer, the government of the Autonomous Okrug provided the necessary advanced financing for the project. 130 pieces of construction equipment and 700 people are used at the site every day,” said Natalya Komarova.
