Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Vladimir Ilyichev welcomed the meeting participants via video conferencing. In his speech, he noted the special role of Russia’s partnership with ASEAN countries, as well as the importance of the steps taken to implement the work plan for cooperation between ASEAN countries in the field of tourism.

“Given the difficult situation in the world, now it is important for all of us to focus on providing safe and comfortable conditions for tourists to travel,” emphasized Vladimir Ilyichev. “It is important to actively develop mutual participation in tourism exhibitions and forums, as well as take care of improving the skills of personnel in the tourism industry.”

The parties noted the effective project activities within the framework of the Russia-ASEAN Dialogue Partnership. Since 2010, Russia has successfully conducted Russian language training programs for tour operators from ASEAN countries. During this time, more than 160 guides and interpreters completed training.
